My first taste of life in the design world came 23 years ago during a two week spell doing work experience at a design agency when I was 15. I loved the atmosphere of the busy design studio and even with limited experience at that young age, was lucky enough to have some of my designs used for actual client jobs. 

 

Throughout the remainder of my school and college life, I continued to develop my skills and love for both fine art and design. I have now worked in the design industry for 18 years, starting off as a Desktop Publisher at the East Anglian Daily Times. Since then I have progressed through the roles of Graphic Designer, Senior Designer and Studio Manager. 

 

My experience in managing a talented design team and working closely with clients, printers and other suppliers has led me to pursue the next stage of my career as a freelance designer. I have now been enjoying the flexibility (and unpredictability!) of freelancing for over 5 years.

Alongside my graphic design career, I have always had an interest in Fine Art; studying Art at GCSE and A-level, followed by a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design at West Suffolk College in 2003. I knew when leaving school that it would extremely difficult to take up painting as a full-time job, so have spent what time I can experimenting and teaching myself to paint around the 'day job' for 15 years or so.

I have taken part in many local exhibitions and enjoy the freedom I now have as a freelancer to be able to make more time for painting... although that is often easier said than done!
